Looking to learn to defend yourself? The Fight Centre’s BJJ classes may be your best option. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is arguably the most effective martial arts for self-defence in one-on-one encounters. Especially since it relies less on force and more on technical accuracy, so smaller people can dominate bigger ones. BJJ’s popularity has soared with the UFC’s, as fighters demonstrated its effectiveness over and over again.
Our program aims to help you develop the skills you need to protect yourself in a one-on-one confrontation confidently.
Keep in mind that Jiu Jitsu, in general, is an exclusively ground-based martial art. While it’s effective in one-on-one self-defence, we recommend leaving it as a last option. If it’s possible, please flee and seek help.
Our BJJ classes will provide you with the building blocks you need for a stable foundation. Each of our BJJ classes provides sparring sessions. They will allow you to put what you have learned into action in a simulated fight. They offer the experience to see how it feels with an active opponent instead of someone being a training dummy for the BJJ drills.
What can you expect?
Vicente Cavalcante has kindly sent one of his highest ranking students to instruct at TFC Brisbane as head trainer. With Ben Johnston helping alongside Logan BJJ, students receive the best instruction. No stone is left unturned to ensure that the TFC family is well cared for. We dedicate ourselves to developing your understanding of BJJ and how to use it to complement a striker’s skillset.
There are two types of BJJ classes we offer: gi and no-gi. A gi is simply the uniform that a BJJ practitioner wears. In a gi session, a student wears their uniform, and in a no-gi session, they are expected to come in a rash guard and shorts or spats.
All our sessions cater to beginners as well as advanced students. We do our best to ensure that each student feels comfortable and can enjoy learning one of the world’s most effective martial arts.
A t-shirt and shorts or skins will do just fine. You don’t want to wear anything that can catch and likely tear. That’s probably the essential rule of thumb when deciding what to wear on your first day. Quality Jiu Jitsu apparel is available in our shop once you decide you want to join our BJJ classes regularly.
